New Allied Business Partner

PigCHAMP is proud to announce our new Allied Business Partner in Canada, EastGen.

EastGen is based out of Guelph, Ontario and will be providing Canadian clients with PigCHAMP products and services.

Getting to Know Dr. Tom Gillespie

Dr. Tom Gillespie founded Rensselaer Swine Services, PC which is now Performance Health, PC.  He graduated from Purdue University with a DVM degree in 1979 and first practiced in a mixed animal practice in Illinois.  In 1981, he joined as an owner in a mixed animal practice in Indiana.  After specializing in swine medicine, Rensselaer Swine Services, PC was established in 1991.  He obtained diplomate status with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Swine Health and Management Specialty in 1989 and recertified in 2008 and again in 2017. Tom consults with swine operations worldwide and has been involved in the swine industry since his 4-H years of being raised on a hog and grain farm. 

Professional involvement includes membership in the American Association of Swine Veterinarians, American Veterinary Medical Association and Indiana Veterinary Medical Association. Tom is the past president of American Association of Swine Veterinarians.  He was chosen AASV Swine Practitioner of the Year in 2010, awarded Pork Master award from the National Hog Farm magazine in 2018, and has several papers on different topics and pathogens in the literature.  Tom has lectured and performed training to farm staffs in most hog producing states in the United States, Canada and several countries in SE Asia and Europe.  Tom and his wife, Denise, live in Rensselaer and have three married children and seven grandchildren.  Tom's hobbies include gardening (especially growing roses), spending time with his family, camping, shooting sports and fishing.

Tips and Tricks

PigCHAMP Version 7.6.0 now allows you to record and analyze piglets euthanized in the Piglet Death event. To help with validation while doing data entry, we have included an additional item on the summary data panel.

Welcome Back, Hailey

The PigCHAMP team is excited to announce that our summer intern, Hailey Arthur, has accepted the position for our Sales and Support Specialist.

Hailey's responsiblities will include providing customer support with regards to any account problems and create a long lasting relationship with current and future PigCHAMP customers through sales.

Over the last few months, Hailey has been working part time learning about the PigCHAMP program as she finished her senior year. She graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in Animal Science on May 10th. Hailey will be joining the PigCHAMP team full-time June 3rd. For the next 2 weeks, she will be participating in a study abroad trip to Thailand and Japan to learn about their pork industry. If you are interested in following her adventure, here is the link to the Facebook page

She is looking forward to the many opportunities that will come during this next chapter of her life!
