Vision Upload Utility 2.0



The Vision Upload Utility is a program designed to extract sow farm data from your PigCHAMP DOS 4.1+ data files and transfer the data to PigCHAMP's Vision web site.

 

Vision Upload Utility Requirements
  • PC with Windows 98 or newer operating system
  • Internet Explorer with 128 bit encryption installed
    • Go to Internet Explorer > Help > About to determine your current cipher strength.
    • If you need to get 128 bit encryption, go to Windows Update, look for the "High Encryption Pack" and install it.
    • We recommend that you download the most recent version of Internet Explorer.
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 installed on the PC
    • If your PC doesn't have the .NET Framework, it can be downloaded over the internet automatically when you first try to install the Upload Utility, or can be downloaded from Microsoft's Windows Update site.  Also, you can order the Upload Utility on CD-ROM which will have the .NET framework on the disk.
    • It is a large file, 20+ MB, so expect a long download over slow Internet Connections.
  • Vision Subscription or User account
    • You can create a new Vision Subscription from inside the Vision Upload Utility.
  • PigCHAMP (DOS versions only, 4.1 and higher) and farm data file(s) with Sow data in them.
  • Internet connection must be available for the Vision Upload Utility to send data.



 

The Vision Upload Utility Version 2 has many new features.

.NET architecture
Our first changes are under the hood.  The Vision Upload Utility has been programmed to utilize the new .NET architecture provided by Microsoft.  This allowed us to take advantage of Internet methodologies for transferring data to the Vision web site and Database.

Got a Firewall? Not a problem
The first Vision Upload Utility transferred it's data via FTP protocols and if you had a firewall, that caused trouble for the old Utility.  Version 2 utilizes .NET Web Methods to transfer data over HTTP protocols, thereby going right through the firewall, just like a normal web page does.

Upload 2 Years of Data, not just 20 weeks
The Vision Upload Utility Version 2 allows you to send up to 104 weeks of data to Vision.  This will allow you to populate Vision with loads of data right off the bat.  We do ask that once you have uploaded the two years of data, that you reduce the number of upload weeks to ease the burden on our servers and your PC.

Instant Delivery
This Utility sends data instantaneously to the Vision Web site.  No more lag time after your upload to when you'll see you data on the web.

Schedule Uploads More Often or Not at all
The new Upload Utility allows for more flexible scheduling options, you can send a scheduled upload everyday or not at all, as you choose.

View the data that was most recently Uploaded
When the Utility gathers its data to send to Vision, it saves the data so that you can view what was uploaded.  You can even re-send the data if something happened with your Internet Connection during the Upload.

Upload only the farms you choose
The new Uploader allows you to link your PigCHAMP files with Vision Sow Farms and only sends the data for files that you have linked.

PigCHAMP Program Folder and PigCHAMP Data Folder can be different
This restriction of the first utility is now gone.

Create new Vision Subscription from the within Utility
If you are new to Vision and haven't signed up for Vision, this allows you to create a new Vision Subscription.

Create new Vision Sow Farm Location from within the Utilty
Create new Vision Sow Farms on the fly from inside the Upload Utility
